Walter Foxworth, Former Owner and Chairman of the Board of Foxworth-Galbraith, Passed Away at Age 89

The entire US LBM family is saddened by the death of Walter Foxworth, who passed away peacefully on Friday.

lat2018-walter_foxworthThe entire US LBM family is saddened by the death of Walter Foxworth, who passed away peacefully on Friday, Aug. 2 at the age of 89. Walter was the former Chairman of the Board and former owner of Foxworth-Galbraith Lumber Company. Known as a kind leader with exceptional business acumen, Walter took great pride in employing thousands and creating a thriving company and culture, even during the industry's most challenging of economic times. 

Additionally, Walter was an integral member of the Lumbermen's Association of Texas (LAT), a non-profit trade association serving the Texas building materials industry, where he also served in the past as president. Walter spent over six decades as a volunteer with LAT, engaging with decision makers about important issues facing the industry and was deeply committed to leaving a stronger industry for the next generation. His work and contributions to the building materials industry was recognized by LAT, with Foxworth-Galbraith being named Dealer of the Year by the organization in 1993 and Walter himself receiving LAT’s lifetime achievement award in 2022. 

"Walter was an extraordinary leader in the building materials industry, a passionate businessman and advocate for our industry for more than 60 years, even continuing that advocacy work after he retired from Foxworth-Galbraith in 2022," said US LBM President and CEO L.T. Gibson. "Walter will be deeply missed, and our heartfelt thoughts and condolences go out to all his family and friends."
